My soul, my rational mind and my emotions are sitting in a car. The soul is driving. The mind and the emotions are sitting next to it (it's a car with three seats in the front. Maybe a van or a pickup truck.)
The mind and emotions are freaking out about some distressing events: arguments, illnesses, lack of sleep. The mind is trying to find solutions to the issues, with ideas and mental models swirling around and around. The emotions are feeling overwhelmed. Anxiety turns into fear turns into anger turns into grief, and then a sudden burst of joy, that quickly turns to anxiety again. And around it goes.
The soul is driving calmly, looking at the road ahead but also taking in the scenery.
The mind and the emotions can't understand how the soul can stay so calm, so they are trying to get the soul's attention, asking: "Can't you see all that's going on? All these issues and distressing events are freaking us out!"
The soul smiles gently, and answers: "Yes, isn't it great? That's what we're here for."
And the mind keeps thinking, the emotions keeps feeling, and the soul keeps driving.
P.S. Who is driving your vehicle?
